Parable of Mad Old Man

Epodemus
This is an ancient legend of the East, or somewhere else. I heard a lot of variants, but this one is my favourite. I like this legend anyway.

There are small text and only a single illustration, so I won`t creat a separate gallery. Read the text in the comments bellow.

Epodemus
...Once upon a time there lived a wise old man. He heard once, that gods were going to cast a spell on all the ponds in the world, so that anyone, who drank out of them, would lose his mind forever. The Old Man gathered thousand of jugs and filled them with water. Then there was a promised day, when all the ponds in the world had been casted. People drank the water of these ponds and lost their minds. Only the Old Man drank the water from his jugs, so he saved his sanity. However, all the people around him thought, that it was he who was insane, as he was the only one, who never drank the water from the ponds, like others. So the Old Man stayed alone with his clear mind, separated from the insane people. Finally, unable to bear the loneliness anymore, he crashed all his jugs desperately and drank the water from the casted pound, so lost his mind, like others. There were no more people left on the whole earth, who could hear the voice of reason in his soul...
